The P.S. Engman Agency was founded in 1910 by Swedish immigrant Per Sigfrid (P.S.) Engman. The agency has been a family run business ever since. In its beginning, P.S. Engman sold insurance out of his home after his shift as a diamond driller for the Longyear Company. It was then that he realized the need for life and health insurance for the men who worked the Iron Range.

Paul Engman, P.S. Engman's son, began working with his father in 1937 after his shift at the Oliver Mines which began the second generation. Paul continued as a vibrant businessman for 66 years until the year 2003. Working together in the family business was Paul's sister, P.S. Engman's daughter, Catherine, who was employed for 37 years. Paul's wife, Helyn, also worked in the agency for 22 years after raising their three children.

The third generation began in 1967 when Paul and Helyn's daughter Paula began employment in the agency followed by sons Brad in 1974 and Kevin, the present owner, in 1981.

The fourth generation of the family business started in the year 2000 when Kevin's children began working for the agency.

The agency is currently staffed with two licensed agents and their support staff and is a multi-company, multi-line agency providing insurance protection for home, auto, life, health, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, RV's, and commercial.
